The school water dispensers are now activated by a hand hovering over them at a distance of 2cm – 5cm, When the hand is removed, the dispensing will stop. Students will now be able to fill their water bottles at break and lunch times. It is very important that the bottles do not touch the water dispenser to avoid contamination.

Christmas Shoebox Appeal

Over 50 Christmas shoeboxes have been collected so far. 6th year students will be collecting boxes everyday from 1st to 5th November We would encourage as many students as possible to donate to the appeal. Thank you.

This is particularly relevant as we are heading into a mid-term break. I am also forwarding a leaflet from the National Network of Drug and Alcohol Task Forces ( DATFs). The 1st Years had a great day in the Botanic Gardens today. The sense of excitement before the group left was great to observe and some went all out with their fancy dress costumes; I think others were holding back until Friday 22nd October. Their behaviour was excellent and was commented on by all the guides. Thank you to Ms Verdon who organised the trip and to Ms Dowling, Ms Nolan, Ms Kavanagh and Ms Jones who accompanied her and the group.

Irish European Olympiad of Experimental Science (IrEOES)

FAO: TY and Fifth Year students We are happy to announce that this year, Ireland will participate in the European Olympiad of Experimental Science (EOES). This is an annual science olympiad for school students from the European Union, organised by a member country of EOES NPO. In 2022 more than 20 countries are expected to each enter two teams of three participants. At EOES each team carries out two experimental tasks that combine biology, chemistry, and physics, and give students the opportunity to feel like real researchers and to pit their science skills against those of the other participants. EOES offers participants the opportunity to share experiences and meet and befriend like-minded students from all over the EU. The Irish European Olympiad of Experimental Science (IrEOES) is an individual competition that also serves as the selection event for EOES. The first round takes place online and is open to any eligible student who wants to take part. Students are eligible if they: • live and go to school in Ireland, and • are in Transition Year or in Fifth Year, and • were born on or after 1st January 2005. The first round of IrEUSO2022 will take place on Saturday November 6th 2021, online between 10.00 and 11.00 a.m. Students select one subject: biology, chemistry, or physics as their chosen subject. Congratulations to the Junior Football team who had a very convincing win against Coláiste Íosagáin on Thursday.. Thank you to Mr Fitzgerald and Ms Keogan who trained and mentored the team.. Good luck to the students from 1st and 2nd year who will travel to Limerick on Saturday as part of the Clontarf team in the Community Games football finals. The team travel as Leinster Champions.

Team Hope Shoebox Appeal 2021

This year our 6th years are taking part in the Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal. Team Hope is an Irish, Christian, International Development Charity working to help children affected by poverty in Eastern Europe and Africa. Every year Team Hope sends thousands of gift-filled shoeboxes to children in deprived areas but in order to do this they need your help! Making a Christmas Shoebox does not take much time but it would make a child very happy on Christmas morning. In some countries this is the only gift they may receive so if you have any time please make a shoebox and bring it into the school where they will be getting collected.
