Local Journalist Visit – Brendan Fanning

Transition Year students were delighted to welcome local journalist and author Brendan Fanning to the school yesterday. Brendan, who has written extensively about Irish rugby and is the author of Touching Distance, spoke to the students about his career in sports journalism and the stories behind his book.

The students thoroughly enjoyed the discussion about rugby and Irish sporting culture. They also gained valuable insights into writing, interviewing techniques, and the importance of feedback — even when it’s not always easy to hear. It was an engaging and inspiring session. 

The English teachers will be organising a competition for students to win one of the copies of Touching Distance that were generously provided.
