Congratulations to Caoimhe McCaul and Cara Mulligan for winning 1st place in the category ‘Health and Wellbeing’ at the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition. There were four categories for which thousands applied and hundreds progressed to the live exhibition. The girls did an excellent job communicating their project “Two metres – too much, too little or irrelevant”. They showed the spread of cough aerosols while wearing different masks, using an infrared CO2 camera and Glo Germ. They proved 2 metres is only enough distance if the room is properly ventilated.
Congratulations to Phoenix Hickson-Pitt and Marianne McGovern who were awarded highly commended in the category ‘Social and Behavioural Sciences’ for their project on the effect of blue light on our sleep.
Well done all and thank you to Ms O’Sullivan for working with the students.
